Rolling Road Installation Case Study
Area Covered:
100m x 3.6m
The Challenge
A client required access to a sensitive site in Chester using a heavy goods vehicle carrying a wide load. The only available route passed through an area rich in mature trees and wildlife habitats, where traditional access methods risked causing environmental damage with long-term ecological consequences.
Disturbing root systems, compressing soil, or damaging the flora and fauna in this area was not an option—and the route still needed to support the weight and dimensions of the incoming vehicle.
The Solution
UIS Tooling & Technologies proposed a low-impact, temporary roadway using the Midi version of UIS Rolling Road. Designed for flexible deployment in environmentally sensitive areas, the system distributed the weight evenly across the soft terrain, protecting the underlying ground and vegetation.
The interlocking design and robust build of the boards ensured safe, stable access for the vehicle without any surface degradation, subsidence, or ecological disruption.
This project serves as a powerful example of how engineering ingenuity and environmental stewardship can work hand in hand. With Rolling Road, the client achieved their operational goal without compromising the natural environment—preserving habitats while enabling essential work to continue.
